NEW YORK - Online education company Capella Education Co. on Wednesday named Christopher Cassirer as the acting president of Capella University, replacing interim president Valerie Perkins.

Cassirer was dean of the university's School of Human Services since 2006.
Capella said Perkins is retiring. She is the founding dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies, and served in that position from 2003 until 2007.
Shares of the Minneapolis-based company closed at $64.44 Wednesday, and have ranged between $35.80 and $75.38 over the last year.
