PARIS (AP) -Airbus parent EADS said Wednesday it returned to profit in the first quarter as the planemaker increased deliveries and cut costs, helping offset the weaker dollar.

NEW YORK (AP) -Shares of Elixir Gaming Technologies Inc. tumbled to a 52-week low Wednesday after saying its first-quarter loss widened partly on higher selling, general and administrative expenses.

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -Europe's largest steelmakers, ArcelorMittal SA and ThyssenKrupp AG, on Wednesday reported higher profits in the first three months of the year and saw bright prospects ahead as strong global demand allows them hike prices to cover climbing costs.

CINCINNATI (AP) -Macy's Inc. reported a $59 million first-quarter loss Wednesday because of lower sales and the costs of consolidation, which the company said should start paying off next year.

UNDATED (AP) -Mortgage finance company Freddie Mac said Wednesday its first quarter loss widened to $151 million as the U.S. housing market worsened, though the results were not as poor as expected. Its shares jumped on the news.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -Deere & Co., the world's biggest maker of farm machinery, said Wednesday its second-quarter profit rose 22 percent, propelled by lofty crop prices that stoked global demand for its farm equipment despite a faltering U.S. economy.
