SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday that Vice Chairman and CEO Yun Jong-yong was replaced as part of corporate management shuffle following group chairman's resignation last month.
Lee Yoon-woo, who headed Samsung Electronics' external relations team, will succeeded Yun, who will work as the company's standing adviser, the company said in a statement.
"The latest measure reflects the company's determination to focus on developing future growth engine, and to find a new momentum to become a world leading company," the statement said.
Last month, Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee resigned following his indictment on tax evasion and other charges that resulted from an independent counsel probe into the corporate's activities.
"Vice Chairman Yun offered to step down as he believed it was the right time to resign and let his junior colleague to take over to lead the company," the statement said.
Samsung Electronics is a world leader in computer chips, flat-screen TVs and mobile phones.
