ALAMEDA, Calif. - Telecommunications equipment maker UTStarcom Inc. said Thursday that it expects its second-quarter revenue to rise up to 13.3 percent year over year.

The company predicted revenue of $580 million to $610 million for the period, compared with $538.2 million in the same quarter last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect second-quarter revenue of $593.9 million.
UTStarcom shares rose 30 cents, or 6.7 percent, to close at $4.78. The stock has ranged from $2.23 to $7.36 over the past year.
