DALLAS - Oil and natural-gas producer Exco Resources Inc. said Friday its board approved a $123 million increase to its 2008 capital budget, bringing its total budget to $923 million.

The increase includes $90 million for the exploitation of the company's Haynesville Shale position, $30 million for additional drilling in its Vernon Field, $2 million for additional Cotton Valley drilling in other areas and $1 million for information-technology initiatives, Exco said.
Exco shares fell 6 cents to $24.42 in morning trading.
