Workers at General Motors Corp. ratified a new local contract with the company on Friday afternoon ending a strike in one important factory producer of popular crossover vehicles.

United Auto Workers Local 602 said on its website today that its members agreed a new deal and will resume activities on Monday. The plant which is near Lansing, Michigan employs about 3,300 workers and makes the Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia vehicles.
"This new agreement provides us needed stability now, and for those who come after us," Steve Ramos, Local 602 Bargaining Chairman said on the local's website.
The strike at General Motors' Delta Township plant begun strike since mid-April and kept production idle.
Shares of General Motors slumped 2.59 percent to $20.28 at the closing trading of the New York Stock Exchange Friday.
