The $89.99 accessory for the Wii console comes with the video game and "Wii Balance Board" for performing physical challenges.

The device connects wirelessly to the Wii console to let users perform activities such as yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance.

"Wii Fit is easy for anyone to try and is yet another example of how Nintendo continues to expand the world of video games to new audiences," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing.

Nintendo says 2 million users in Japan have bought Wii Fit. The device will be available today exclusively at the Nintendo World store in New York and in retail stores across the country on May 21.

The Nintendo Wii originally launched in November of 2006.
