NEW YORK - Shares of several paper and packaging companies rose on Monday, despite a weak report of leading economic indicators from a private business group.
The Conference Board said its forecast of future economic activity rose 0.1 percent in April, matching a 0.1 percent rise in March. The results offer another sign the economy remains soft.
Here's how some paper and packaging companies performed Monday:
Weyerhaeuser Co., down 52 cents to $66.80.
AbitibiBowater Inc., up 28 cents, or 3 percent, to $10.30.
MeadWestvaco Corp., up a penny to $26.56.
Domtar Corp., up 13 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $6.34.
