Black Box expects 2009 profit to rise 46 percent

PITTSBURGH - Communications equipment supplier Black Box Corp. said Thursday it expects its fiscal 2009 profit to rise 46 percent.

Its anticipates profit in the range of $3.25 to $3.40 for the year ending March 2009, compared with profit of $2.22 in fiscal 2008.

The company expects sales of approximately $1 billion, compared with sales of $1.01 billion for the 2008 fiscal year.

The company said its sales outlook reflects a "pragmatic view of the current economic environment".

Shares rose $1.44, or 4.6 percent, to close at $32.64. In aftermarket activity, the stock lost $2.64, or 8.8 percent, to $30. The stock has traded in a 52-week range of $26.62 to $46.40.
