NEW YORK - Education software company SkillSoft PLC said Friday it expects adjusted fiscal second-quarter earnings of 6 cents to 7 cents per share, below Wall Street's expectations.

For the fiscal quarter ending July 31, analysts polled by Thomson Financial are predicting a profit of 8 cents per share, on average.
The company forecast sales of $80 million to $82 million for the quarter. Analysts expect revenue of $82.6 million.
For the full year, SkillSoft expects adjusted earnings of 32 cents to 35 cents per share on sales of $329 million to $336 million. The lower end of its revenue forecast is above its prior forecast range of $328 million to $336 million.
Analysts are expecting a profit of 35 cents per share on sales of $335.9 million. Analysts typically exclude one-time items from their estimates.
SkillSoft's shares fell 76 cents, or 7.2 percent, to $9.78 in morning trading. The stock has traded in the 52-week range of $7.26 to $11.42.
