NEW YORK - Shares of gold mining companies fell Tuesday in early trading as the price of the precious metal slipped in European trading.
Gold traded in London at $923.75 per troy ounce, down from $926.25 late Friday. Markets were closed in London on Monday for a public holiday.
Here is how some gold miners are trading:
Goldcorp Inc. fell $1.99 to $40.12
Gold Fields Ltd. shed 57 cents to $13.44
Newmont Mining Corp. dropped $1.16, or 2.5 percent, to $47.54
Barrick Gold Corp. fell $1.36, or 3.2 percent, to $40.72.
