US dollar mostly higher in Europe

LONDON - The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold was lower.

The euro traded at $1.5760 down from $1.5772 it bought in trading late Monday.

Other dollar rates:

_103.92 Japanese yen, up from 103.44.

_1.0263 Swiss francs, up from 1.0243.

_0.9887 Canadian dollars down from 0.9894.

The British pound was quoted at $1.9757 down from $1.9821.

Gold traded in London at $923.75 per troy ounce, down from $926.25 late Friday. Markets were closed in London on Monday for a public holiday.

Silver prices were not immediately available.
