NEW YORK - A director of investment bank Jefferies Group Inc. bought about 1.4 million shares of common stock, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In a Form 4 filed with the SEC Tuesday, Joseph S. Steinberg reported buying the shares on Thursday, Friday and Tuesday for $17.64 to $17.98 apiece.
Steinberg owns the shares indirectly through Leucadia National Corp., of which he is a significant shareholder and president.
Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.
Jefferies Group is based in New York.
