NEW YORK - Italian glasses maker Luxottica Group SpA said Wednesday that it signed a franchising deal with privately held Diethelm Keller Ltd. to initially put 15 Sunglass Hut stores in Thailand.

Terms were not disclosed.
Sunglass Hut currently has 220 stores in the Asia-Pacific region.
"The entry into Thailand strengthens our presence in Southeast Asia, a high-potential growth region for the sun retail business," Chris Beer, Luxottica's chief executive of retail business in Australasia, Southeast Asia and South Africa, said in a statement.
Sunglass Hut had 1,970 stores as of March 31, primarily in North America, Asia-Pacific, United Kingdom, South Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
