NEW YORK - Shares of gold mining companies rose Friday as gold for June delivery added $10.10 to $887.30 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Gold earlier climbed as high as $888.50.
Here is how some gold miners fare:
Goldcorp Inc. rose 69 cents to $40.14.
Gold Fields Ltd. rose 3 cents to $12.93.
Newmont Mining Corp. rose 73 cents to $47.53.
Barrick Gold Corp. rose $1.12 to $40.29.
