The dollar fell against the euro on Friday after an index of Milwaukee-area manufacturing fell to its lowest level in five years.
The dollar traded at $1.5555 per euro at 4 p.m. in New York, from $1.5519 on Thursday. The dollar was little changed at 105.41 yen, compared to 105.87 yen the previous day. The euro was to 164.00 yen from 163.71 yen a day earlier.
The National Association of Purchasing Management-Chicago said on Friday its Milwaukee monthly index of regional manufacturing fell to 45, from 48 in April. Figures under 50 indicate contraction.
