Opening Glance: Electrical equipment shares rise

NEW YORK - Shares of electrical equipment companies opened higher with the broader markets after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told an audience in Spain that he expects the U.S. economy will improve later in the year, although he indicated interest rates would remain unchanged.

Amphenol Corp., up $1.42, or 3 percent, to $48.68.

Cooper Industries Ltd., up 40 cents to $46.77.

Baldor Electric Co., up 41 cents to $36.29.
