WASHINGTON - The International Council of Shopping Centers spent more than $483,000 in the first quarter to lobby on insurance reform, taxes and other issues, according to a disclosure report.
The trade group, whose 75,000 members include shopping center owners, developers, retailers and others, also lobbied the federal government on labor and energy issues, climate change and other environmental legislation and tax-related matters pertaining to collection of sales taxes, commercial buildings, environmental cleanup, solar energy and others.
Executives of real estate investment trust Taubman Centers Inc., department store Nordstrom Inc. and discount retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are among the 81 trustees of the trade group.
In the January-to-March period, the trade group lobbied Congress, Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers, according to the report filed April 15 with the House clerk's office.
