NEW YORK - Shares of electrical equipment companies ended lower Friday as the broader markets tumbled amid a surge more than $11 in the price of crude and a report from the Labor Department that May unemployment rose to 5.5 percent from 5 percent the month before.
The Dow Jones industrial average tumbled 394.64 points, or 3.1 percent, to 12,209.81.
How shares of some electrical equipment companies fared:
Regal Beloit Corp., down $1.57, or 3.3 percent, to $45.97.
Molex Inc., down $1.05, or 3.7 percent, to $27.49.
General Cable Corp., down $3.08, or 4.4 percent, to $67.17.
Thomas & Betts Corp., down $1.60, or 3.9 percent, to $40.
