Intel ordered to pay $25.4 million on South Korea antitrust case

After Intel Corp. was fined yesterday in South Korea, antitrust regulators ordered the chip maker on Thursday to pay $25.4 million, or 26 billion won, on violations of Korean antitrust laws.

The regulator ruled that Intel violations tampered with an agreement to sell chips to Samsung on discounted prices if Samsung agreed not to buy from Advanced Micro Devices Inc, Intel's biggest competitor.

Intel showed discontent and disappointment with the ruling, disagreeing with the findings and considering appealing it.

Shares of Intel Corporation rose 1.66 percent or $23.87 on Nasdaq trade Thursday compared to Wednesday closing trade of $23.48.
