NEW YORK - Saks Inc. on Thursday said its executive vice president of stores at its Saks Fifth Avenue chain will retire early next year, setting off a series of promotions at the luxury retailer, effective Monday.

Carolyn Biggs, executive vice president of stores, will retire Jan. 31, 2009. Until her retirement she will work on special projects. She started at Saks in 1993 and held a variety of titles before assuming her current one in 2007.
She will be replaced by Jennifer de Winter, currently group senior vice president and general merchandise manager of jewelry, shoes, handbags and soft accessories.
De Winter's position will be taken by Cody Kondo, who is currently senior vice president and general merchandise manager for menswear, home, food and gifts.
Finally, Tom Ott will succeed Kondo. He is currently vice president and divisional merchandise manager of men's tailored clothing and personal furnishings.
