NEW YORK - Shares of gold mining companies rose Monday as the price of the metal climbed in U.S. trading.
The price of gold on the New York Mercantile Exchange for August delivery rose $20.10 to $890.40 per ounce.
Here is how some gold miners are trading:
Goldcorp Inc. rose $1.17, or 3 percent, to $39.62.
Gold Fields Ltd. rose 26 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $11.39.
Newmont Mining Corp. rose $1.35, or 2.9 percent, to $48.39.
Barrick Gold Corp. rose $1.56, or 4 percent, to $40.10.
