Robert "Terry" Townsend and his wife named Memphis, Tenn.-based International Paper Co. in the lawsuit.
They claim the company and dozens of workers involved in the manufacturing and maintenance of the boiler at the mill in Redwood are to blame for the May 3 blast.
The explosion killed a contract worker and sent five other workers to a burn center in Augusta, Ga. Dozens of other workers were treated at an area hospital.
IP officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
