US dollar down in Europe

LONDON - The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Monday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.5423, up from $1.5354 late Friday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_108.33 Japanese yen, up from 108.21
_1.0458 Swiss francs, down from 1.0498
_1.0269 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0290
The British pound was quoted at $1.9590, up from $1.9469.
Gold traded in London at $872.00 per troy ounce, up from $865.50 late Friday.
Silver opened in London at $16.52, down from $16.55.
