NEW YORK - NEW YORK (AP)--Shares of pharmaceutical companies closed mixed Tuesday as the broader market lost ground on Labor Department data showing its index of producer prices jumped 1.4 percent in May, the largest increase since November.
In industry news, Wyeth and Elan Corp. PLC gained on positive data from a mid-stage study of their new Alzheimer's drug.
How some key drug makers performed Tuesday:
Schering-Plough Corp., up 6 cents to $19.26.
Merck & Co., down 33 cents to $34.68.
Wyeth, up $2.08, or 4.8 percent, to $45.16.
Pfizer Inc., down 5 cents to $17.72.
Elan Corp. up $2.89, or 10.7 percent, to $30, after hitting a six-year high of $30.03 during the session.
