SAN DIEGO - Wireless communications company Leap Wireless International Inc. said Tuesday that it named Walter Z. Berger as its chief financial officer, effective June 23.
Berger's last post was at CBS Corp., where he worked in various senior management positions, including serving as CFO of CBS Radio.
The company's chief executive and president Doug Hutcheson had been serving as its acting CFO since September 2007, when former CFO Amin Khalifa resigned, a Leap spokesman said.
Leap shares rose $2.17, or 4.2 percent, to $53.80. The stock has ranged from $29.87 to $99.04 over the past year.
