ConAgra to be licensee for P&G technologies

OMAHA, Neb. - Food maker ConAgra Foods Inc. said Friday it will be Procter & Gamble Co.'s exclusive licensee for a variety of the consumer product company's food ingredient technologies.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The company said the agreement includes Calcium Citrate Malate, or Calsura, a form of calcium used to fortify a variety of foods and beverages.

As part of the agreement, ConAgra will be Procter & Gamble's exclusive licensee for Calsura and will be given access to all of Procter & Gamble's research and clinical trials for the product. The company will also be able to use the Calsura trademark on its branded products.

Under the agreement, ConAgra will also have access to various packaging capabilities and technologies owned by Procter & Gamble.

ConAgra said the deal will help it reduce its costs and improve its sustainability efforts.
