Ford Motor Co., down 51 cents at $5.81

The automaker will cut third-quarter production because of a sluggish market for pickups and sport utility vehicles.

Continental Airlines Inc., down $1.36 at $14.23

The carrier and United Airlines announced an alliance, but the soaring price of oil sent airline stocks tumbling.
