HealthSouth to sell stock in private sale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - HealthSouth Corp., which provides inpatient rehabilitation services, said Monday it is selling 8.8 million shares to J.P. Morgan Securities Inc.

The company will use proceeds to redeem and repay short-term or long-term borrowings and for general corporate purposes including acquisitions of or investments in businesses or assets, capital expenditures, and working capital.

HealthSouth did not disclose pricing or other terms.

Shares of the company ended the session down 51 cents, or 2.8 percent, at $17.97.
