NEW YORK - Shares of the largest telecommunications service providers traded mostly lower Tuesday morning as the broader market fell sharply after reports that high fuel prices are hurting consumer confidence, and UPS issued a profit warning.
How some key telecom stocks performed Tuesday:
Verizon Communications Inc. fell 87 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $35.05.
AT&T Inc. fell 36 cents to $34.02.
Sprint Nextel Corp. was unchanged at $7.72.
Qwest Communications International Inc. fell a penny to $3.84.
