S.A.C. Capital Advisors LLC and its affiliates reported owning roughly 4.1 million shares of the New York-based company.

The shares were acquired for investment purposes and not with the purpose of influencing control of Take-Two, Cohen reported. However, the financier said he may discuss the company's business, strategy and future plans with Take-Two's leadership or other parties.

The funds reporting spending about $107.6 million of investment capital to buy the shares in open market purchases.

Take-Two shares fell 8 cents to $25.78 in after-hours trading, after gaining 7 cents to $25.86 during the regular session.
