CLEVELAND - National City Corp. said Wednesday it named former Citigroup Inc. executive Richard L. Michel as vice chairman and head of the regional bank's commercial banking business.

Michel most recently served as group executive of the global industrials group for Citigroup's corporate bank.
In this newly created position at National City, Michel will be responsible for all aspects of commercial banking, including the regional and national corporate banking, capital markets and structured products businesses, and will report to President and Chief Executive Peter E. Raskind.
Shares rose 14 cents to $5.23 in morning trading.
