The Cupertino, Calif.-based company also lobbied on proposals to crack down on spyware, which are computer programs that can surreptitiously access hard drives to track online behavior and steal sensitive personal data.
In addition, Symantec lobbied on a broad range of federal cybersecurity programs, border security initiatives, trade measures and patent reform proposals, according to the form filed April 18 with the House clerk's office.
Besides Congress, the company lobbied the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Trade Representative, Internal Revenue Service and other agencies in the first three months of the year.
