Opening Glance: Insurers decline

NEW YORK - Shares of insurers fell early Thursday morning after Specialty Underwriters' Alliance rejected a takeover bid that would have paid shareholders an 18 percent premium over Wednesday's closing price and as the broader market declined sharply.

Assured Guaranty Ltd. fell 43 cents, or 2 percent, to $21.

PMI Group Inc. declined 15 cents, or 4.7 percent, to $3.06.

CNA Financial Corp. fell 7 cents to $27.03.
