Canadian Solar issuing nearly 4M shares in offer

NEW YORK - Canadian Solar Inc., which makes solar cells, said Friday it will issue nearly 4 million shares for $74 million of convertible notes surrendered in a recent offer.

About 98 percent of the 6 percent convertible senior notes, due 2017, were exchanged in the offer, which expired Tuesday.

On March 31, the company had about 32.4 million shares outstanding.

Shares fell $2.44, or 5.7 percent, to $40.40 in afternoon trading.
