NEW YORK - Shares of electrical equipment companies closed mostly lower as the broader market dipped amid a record-breaking spike in crude-oil prices and continued concern over the financial sector.
Light, sweet crude for August delivery rose as high as $142.99 on the Nymex, before pulling back to settle at $140.21.

Avnet Inc., down 77 cents, or 2.7 percent, to $27.55.
Regal Beloit Corp., down 88 cents, or 2 percent, to $42.34.
Flextronics International Ltd., down 23 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $9.47.
Molex Inc., down 46 cents to $24.76.
