NEW YORK - Shares of telecommunications companies closed higher Monday even as the broader market advanced, with Sprint Nextel up nearly 7 percent, adding to last week's gains.
How some key telecom stocks performed Tuesday:
Verizon Communications Inc. rose $1.12, or 3.3 percent, to $35.40.
AT&T Inc. rose 93 cents, or 2.8 percent, to $33.69.
Sprint Nextel Corp. rose 59 cents, or 6.6 percent, to $9.50.
Qwest Communications International Inc. rose 12 cents, or 3.2 percent, to $3.93.
