WASHINGTON - Deere & Co., one of the world's largest farm equipment companies, spent $460,000 lobbying the federal government in the first quarter, according to a recent disclosure form.

The Moline, Ill.-based company lobbied on a biofuel pilot program, bankruptcy protection, the defense spending bill, a diesel emissions reduction program, patent reform, alternative fuels and other issues.
Besides Congress, the company lobbied the Defense, State and Commerce departments, the U.S. Trade Representative's office and other agencies in the first three months of the year, according to the form filed April 18 with the House clerk's office.
