BELLEVUE, Wash. - Expedia Corporate Travel, a unit of online travel company Expedia Inc., said Monday that has changed its name to Egencia, added new Web site tools and agreed to buy Synergi Global Travel Management.

"The company has become a strong, growing global business on a scale that warrants its own distinct brand," Egencia said in a statement.
The business' new site is located at Egencia.com.
Egencia said new tools it is adding to its site include several geared toward letting users generate content, including the integration of airplane seating chart tool SeatGuru and travelers' hotel reviews.
It is adding a ticket performance report tool as well, which is meant to help travel managers keep track of unused ticket inventory.
Also Monday, Egencia said it is buying Mississauga, Ontario-based Synergi Global Travel Management, which is a travel management, meeting and incentives company.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
"We're going to use their business as a way to continue expanding our own service offerings, not only to Canadian business travelers locally there but to business travelers worldwide," said Simon Tam, senior vice president of product and technology for Egencia.
