NEW YORK - The Standard & Poor's MidCap 400 index rose Monday afternoon, as shares of CBRL Group Inc. climbed.
The index rose 3.38 points to 827.50 in afternoon trading.
CBRL Group's stock rose $1.95, or 8.4 percent, to $25.15. The company, which operates Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores, is scheduled to present at a conference on Tuesday.
Shares of Charming Shoppes Inc. gained 13 cents, or 2.8 percent, to $4.73. On Friday, the women's apparel retailer named Alan Rosskamm non-executive chairman.
Shares of energy and construction company MDU Resources Group Inc. rose $2.05, or 6.3 percent, to $34.77. They earlier set a 52-week high of $34.87.
Shares of insurer PMI Group Inc. declined 31 cents, or 13.2 percent, to $2.04, earlier setting a 52-week low of $1.88.
Shares of newspaper publisher Lee Enterprises Inc. declined 42 cents, or 9.6 percent, to $3.98. They earlier set a 52-week low of $3.81.
Shares of Chemtura Corp. fell 44 cents, or 7 percent, to $5.86, and set a 52-week low of $5.67. The company will raise prices for all of its polymer additives products by up to 9 cents per kilogram globally.
