OKLAHOMA CITY - Oil and natural gas company SandRidge Energy Inc. said Monday it agreed with Occidental Petroleum Corp. to build and operate a carbon dioxide extraction plant in West Texas.
The plant, in Pecos County, Texas, will include carbon dioxide compression and related transportation pipelines.
Occidental will pay expected project costs of $1.1 billion, and Sandridge will drill, produce and deliver high carbon dioxide gas to the plant.
Carbon dioxide is used in crude oil production.
