Privately held Open Biosystems will immediately be folded into Thermo Fisher's Analytical Technologies business unit.
Open Biosystems makes tools to help researchers in the emerging field of RNA interference, also known as "gene-silencing." Scientists hope to use mechanisms within the body to target and "turn off" genes associated with disease.
