Electronic Data Systems unit gets $148M contract

HERNDON, Va. - Technology services provider Electronic Data Systems Corp. said Wednesday its NHIC Corp. subsidiary received a $148 million contract from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

NHIC will administer Part A and Part B Medicare claims payments to health-care providers in four Northwestern states.

The contract is for one year with four one-year options. NHIC will provide Medicare administrative functions and will be providers' first point of contact for processing and paying Medicare fee-for-service claims.

Electronic Data Systems shares rose a penny to $24.68 after the opening bell.
