WASHINGTON - The Department of Transportation said Wednesday the U.S. military will open secured airspace on the East Coast to commercial aircraft over the July Fourth weekend, in an effort to reduce traveler delays.
Airspace from Maine to Florida will be released from 6 p.m. EDT on Thursday, July 3 to 6 a.m. EDT on Monday, July 7.
The airspace was also cleared for commercial flights on Memorial Day, Christmas and Thanksgiving.
