Monsanto acquired the seed company for $135 million, according to Monsanto's quarterly report filed June 27.

Monsanto said the acquisition will help it provide farmers in Central American countries with broader access to corn seed products.

Monsanto shares dropped $3.23, or 2.6 percent, to $121.89 in afternoon trading. The stock has traded between $58.50 and $145.80 during the past 52 weeks.
