BISMARCK, N.D. - Otter Tail Power Co. electric customers have been paying sharply higher bills in recent months. But North Dakota's Public Service Commission said the price spike is ending.

The commissioners said fuel cost adjustments on the June bills of Otter Tail's North Dakota ratepayers will be smaller.
Commission President Susan Wefald said a customer who uses 750 kilowatt-hours of electricity each month will see a decline of $7.65.
The increase happened because South Dakota's Big Stone power plant was shut down for maintenance late last year.
Big Stone supplies electricity for Otter Tail's system, and the utility had to buy more expensive power elsewhere. The cost was passed along to customers and spread out over four months.
