Republic Airways traffic up 12.3 percent in June

INDIANAPOLIS - Regional carrier Republic Airways Holdings, which operates connecting flights for several major airlines, said Wednesday its passenger traffic jumped 12.3 percent last month on a similarly large increase in capacity.

June traffic increased to 868 million revenue passenger miles from 772.9 million a year earlier. A revenue passenger mile is an industry measurement accounting for one paying passenger flown one mile.

Capacity rose to 1.1 billion available seat miles, from 943.5 million previously. Load factor, a measure of occupancy, slipped to 78.5 percent from 81.9 percent.

So far this year, traffic is up 26.5 percent, while capacity is up 26.9 percent. Occupancy is down to 74.1 percent from 74.3 percent.
