Mylan gets FDA OK to market generic antibiotic

PITTSBURGH - Generic drug maker Mylan Inc. said Thursday it received tentative approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market its 600 milligram linezolid tablets.

The antibiotic is a generic version of Pharmacia and Upjohn's Zyvox tablets, which had U.S. sales of about $422 million for the 12 months ended March 31, according to IMS Health.

Currently, Mylan has 93 abbreviated new drug applications pending FDA approval.
