TEHRAN, Iran - Iranian state TV is reporting that a moderate earthquake has jolted a small town in eastern Iran.
The report says the magnitude-5.2 quake struck at 3:49 a.m. Friday but caused no injuries.
Some older buildings were slightly damaged in the town of Kadkan near the quake's epicenter, some 400 miles east of Tehran. The quake was followed by two aftershocks.
Iran is located on several seismic fault lines and is prone to earthquakes, experiencing on average at least one slight tremor every day.
In March 2006, three earthquakes and nine aftershocks hit western Iran in quick succession, killing at least 70 people and injuring about 1,200.
