NEW YORK - Canadian Solar Inc., which makes solar energy products, said Monday it signed five sales agreements with customers in Italy and the Czech Republic.

The value of the deals, which entail total shipments of 14.9 megawatts of solar modules, was not disclosed. A solar module is a package of solar cells.
The customers are WSW in the Czech Republic, and Arco Energy, AC Service, Ravano Green Power and Albatec of Italy.
Shipments will be completed this year.
A one-megawatt plant running continuously at full capacity can power 778 households each year, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Solar technology has lower capacity since its power generation is constrained by availability of the sun.
Canadian Solar is incorporated in Canada and conducts all its manufacturing in China.
